Started in 2006, The Wood Whisperer is the longest-running online educational series for woodworkers at TheWoodWhisperer.com. Although a lot has changed throughout the years (like several shop moves, two kids, and a lot more gray hair), we’re still the same small family-run business we were when we started and we rely heavily on community support for our success. The Ultimate Space-saving Hack For Storing Your Spices | In-wall Spice Rack You Must See!
We recently completed a kitchen renovation which included a new pantry. In order to promote continued marital bliss, it became abundantly clear to me that I needed a better way to store my extensive collection of BBQ rubs and spices. Instead of taking up precious shelf space, I decided to steal space from on of the stud cavities behind the drywall to make an in-wall spice rack. The process is much easier than you'd think: cut the opening, mud the back side of the interior drywall so it's nice and smooth, then construct a frame that can be inserted into the opening for a nice snug fit.

Unbelievably Easy Exterior Wood Finish With Rubio Durogrit!
Просмотров 38 тыс.14 дней назад
In my experience, all outdoor finishes will eventually fail. Some will most certainly fail faster than others, thanks to the breakdown that occurs from UV exposure. Rubio Monocoat recently came out with a new outdoor finish called Durogrit. They say the finish fights UV damage with the use of something pretty unique: cellulose wood fibers. The finish provides durability and increased UV protect...

Outstanding!
Mark. I want to make a baby rattle. What oil and wood do you recommend?
I like seeing young Becky Thatcher, errr Ava working with you.
the grub screw in the Bessy is hardened steel and would gouge the bar before being gouged. I doubt you'd ever need to maintenance them.
good video. this helped a lot.
I watched your tool segments and your finishing segments. How about a segment on the adhesives you use.
thanks
Meat Church is where its at! Oh and nice rack! #dadjokes!?!
Finally, a worthy mitre gauge that is more expensive than a table saw! #s
I wonder why you use perfectly beautiful and natural wood and then spoil the look of it with paint. Is that because you like plastic look better? 😊 Cool having the kids at home and giving them the opportunity to get experiences with the out of school life!! Happy summer for them with their parents.
I do like the design of this till and I plan to incorporate some parts in my own design. Thank you for sharing. Still, I find it ironic that you made this till for hand tools entirely using power tools.
0:40 That is called a Drywall Sword.
Seen a few videos from others who use mineral oil and then a day later they apply a "sealer" combination of mineral oil and beeswax.
Thanks!
Thank you!
One, you need some Kosmos BBQ rub. Two, I think Matt Cremona would be jealous since his project is nowhere near done.
The advantages of the cardboard walls in the US I suppose, this would be next to impossible with my concrete walls ;)
⚠️In an emergency stand by the spice rack. ⚠️
Und von der anderen Seite haut einer dagegen und alles liegt auf dem Boden! 😅
Take the knob off and zip it in and down with a small impact that's what I do Just be smart and don't hammer it down obviously
I've done that a year but I used the studs and just added brackets so I didn't have to use all materials
Now that’s a spice collection! The shelves are nice too!
16:28 not rubbing the cats butt on the boards mark 😂
Just needed to say. Great vid as always. Your daughter is a cutie. Also, loved the Larry David allusion. Big fan of you both. Peace and Happy Trails.
Great rack! I think I would have put a plywood back instead of messing with the drywall…or in your case maybe a solid wood tongue and groove backing 😀
Beautiful results! Can I ask what all grit sandpaper you used?
Ava is ahead of the game with knowing and talking about milk paint!
Nice! I did that qt my last house except it involved ru Ning prefabparticle boa4d unitsthrough a jobsite saw and shoving it in between the studs. Yours is much more upscale.
Glad to see I am not the only one with the spice hoarding problem. I just had to explain to my wife why I have 3 kinds of paprika. I guess I should start building this.
You'd have to explain that to me too, since you're missing one! There's Spanish paprika, smoked Spanish paprika, Hungarian paprika, and hot Hungarian paprika. Which one are you missing?
@@Ea-Nasir_Copper_Co lol, I am out of Spanish paprika.
Don't forget to put 60% of the money you make from this video into your kids trust funds.
YES, I LOVE THE KIDS OUT IN THE SHOP, and not playing some computer game. This is something they will take with them the rest of there life's. Nothing like being self sufficient. Even if they hire out a job they have some idea what is being done or should be done. Plus it builds a good bond. " she has on headphones so she doesn't have to listen to any of his well you know." Safety glasses!
Painted maple? Oh well. For the back painted or not, i would go buy a sheet of luan floor underlayment for the back and just surface nail it to the back. You can search in the pile at the big box store and find some with a nice wood grain pattern that would look good with a clear or stained woodgrain and its cheap. Your daughters right noting is perfect, and imperfections my dad always said give a project a hand made feel. I actually was thinking about doing a project like that, i have a spot thats perfect for it, but ductwork for the second story is right behind it, and spices last longer if they are not exposed to heat, like by the oven. So mine would need insulation behind it. Time to teach them kids how to do some woodworking, i was about your daughters age when my dad was building boats in the basement. I'm going on 64 now. My 40 year old kids i would not trust with power tools, i didn't have a woodworking shop until they moved out.
Great project that turned out really well. Hmmm, however, there does come to mind something about child labor laws..... 🙂
cute little whippersnappers
Potatoe Slayer seasoning is no joke!
I saw the Voodoo and Honey Hog in that collection (great choices), but you're missing Killer Hogs. Hopefully you watch Malcom smoking some meat on How to BBQ Right. He's practically a neighbor over near Memphis, and is a master of all things smoked.
I have his AP and rib rub. Great stuff!
I always keep my Shit on the top shelf, too!
Love me some Potato Slayer!
I’m not even that huge of a potato fan but I put that stuff on a baked potato the other day and it was amazing!
If you have not tried The Usual from Fire&Smoke Society i highly recommend.
